Apple Watch Series 8: Redesign redux or form factor re-run?

Remember the big redesigned rumors that lead to series 7? Rumors await Apple’s flat-side watch and solid track records for hardware. However, Series 7 looked similar to Series 6. So now should we expect changes in the design of the Apple Watch Series 8 or not?

Each Apple Watch has maintained its display size and status for three generations:

  • The Apple Watch Series 0,1,2 and 3 retain the original design.
  • The Apple Watch Series 4, 5, and 6 had the original screen size and shape changes.
  • The Apple Watch Series 7 has followed this tick-tock trend with screen adjustment and positioning.

Adhering to this trend means that Series 10 will be the next new Apple Watch design.

But Apple’s past styles are not the same as Apple’s plans. However, we have enough faith in Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman that we will never completely abandon the Apple Watch box design.

John Gruber included the belief in his podcast that Apple Watch Square will be used for the second-generation Apple Watch SE. He assumes that Apple would like SE to be very different from the premium flagship Apple Watch.

Maybe there is something in it, but the series 7 already has a modified display size and case structure in the Apple Watch SE. It seems to me that a new case design will be applied to a model that is intended to be an affordable option.

According to rumors, the boxy design is aimed at the solid Apple Watch. It could mean that another design is built for a new watch and not a model built for value. Apple Line’s core line-up could continue to advance with progress in a more visible design. The boxy shape also has an extra industrial look to it which shows that it is strong and not polished.
